Welcome to the Falkingham lab webpage

I’m Prof. Peter Falkingham, Professor of Palaeobiology at Liverpool John Moores University, UK. My primary research focusĀ is on animal motion, and how such motion is preserved in the fossil record.

My research incorporates data from extant taxa and high performance computer simulation. This can then be tied to understanding footprint formation, and ultimately how extinct animals moved.

In addition to my work on locomotion and footprints, I’m also involved in other research areas including biomechanics, computational fluid dynamics, and development of digitsation and motion capture techniques and applications.  I collaborate with a global network of colleagues from the UK, USA, Europe, Australia, China, and South America.
